1900 - 1916

Engine Company No. 46 began as Hose Company No. 5 located at Central and 14th Street.  In 1909 Hose 5  moved to this new station built at 1409 W. Vernon Ave.  In 1916 the Company was closed and the building moved to Terminal Island in San Pedro.  It opened  in 1920 as Engine Company No. 40.  In 1923 a new building, the one that exist today, was constructed on the Vernon Ave.  site and went into service as Engine Company No. 46. 

In 1979 the Engine 46 was moved to its current location at 2379 S. Hoover Street.  Old 46's is now headquarters for the Los Angeles Stentorians.
