                         OLD 27's DESTROYED BY FIRE

   Fifteen companies (9 Engines, 4 Trucks and one Squad) of firefighters under the direction of Batalion Commander Larry Schneider, Battalion 5-"A", responded to a greater alarm structure fire at 1625 North Cahuenga (old Engine Company 27's Quarters) in the Hollywood area.  First companies on scene reported a two-story, 75' x 100' brick commercial building well involved in fire.  Firefighters using major stream appliances and handlines confined the fire to the two-story structure and extinguished the fire in 37 minutes.  The preliminary fire damage was estiamted at $500,000.
